Autumn

Our Autumn term topic is Castles and Fairytales.  We will be sharing lots of fairy tales and completing lots of fun activities linked to each story.

We try and link our topic to many areas of the curriculum but for this term will be practicing our sentence writing and working on applying our phonics to our independent learning.

We will count objects and practice our recognition of numerals to 20 and their number words.

In History we will study Toys Old and New

In Geography we will identify the different countries of the United Kingdom and try to find information about each of those countries.  We will look at the flag for each country and try making our own flags.

In PE we will look at kicking skills for football and invasion games with Mr Gibbons on a Friday.  We will also be trying our hand at cricket with Ben on a Tuesday.

In Art we will use different types of line in mark making.  We will look at the work of the Op Artist - Bridget Riley.  We will also look at colour and painting/printing.

In D+T we will make our own moving story book using levers.

In Computing we will visit the computer suite to create our own castle pictures using an art package.  We will learn to save and print our pictures.

In Music, Mrs Brown will teach us how to use percussion instruments to create sounds for stories and play along to music.  We will look at rhythm and we will compose our own percussion piece.
